There’s nothing as exciting as seeing young ones especially children get into the act of creation or making of things. It gives a sense of hope for the future of the country. This was the story at the Kidz-zone of Harvesters International Christian Centre a fast growing church located at Gbagada, on the mainland of Lagos state Nigeria.
Yours truly Becca Organic Care was privileged to offer its training services as the kids with ages ranging from 5-10 were taught how to make shea and coconut body butter during their busy bee programme (A programme build to train kids how to be independent). It was an educating as well as fun filled experience for both parties. The beauty of the whole training exercise came to bare on Sunday as the different products made by these kids were displayed and sold. Yes, you read that right. The products were sold through the guidance of the teachers. The children made money from it. Unbelievable you think, but truth is, the children smiled that day as they saw their products being bought by adults with cash paid.
You can imagine what this kind of experience can do to a young mind in a country and continent where most people think more of consuming rather than producing. A lot has been said about us becoming a people that produce what they consume and use but sadly little has been done in making that a reality. Becca Organic Care is poised at empowering young minds (leaders of tomorrows) also. This also leads to the creation of jobs, reducing the rate of unemployment in the country.
